How To Get a Library Card

Getting a Westfield Athenaeum Card

Adults may register for a library card at the Circulation Desk. Youth (teens and children, and parents too!) may register for a card at Youth Services. Library cards are free when setting up an account.

  • Adults must present a photo ID that includes their current address. A piece of mail with your current address is required in addition to photo ID if current address is not shown on the photo ID.
  • Students ages 13-17 may present student picture ID and piece of mail (or be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian who has required IDs).
  • Children 12 years old and younger must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian who has required IDs.
  • Temporary Residents must present photo ID and another form of ID. College and University students with a permanent address outside of the area must present Massachusetts College or University ID.
  • A current library card is required to check out library materials or request items from other libraries.
  • Cards issued by non-academic CW MARS libraries may be used at the Westfield Athenaeum.
  • Lost your card? Replacement cards are $2. You must present photo ID to get a replacement card.
  • Library cards are non-transferable.

CW MARS eCards

The CW MARS library consortium has made eCards available for people who live in a town with a CW MARS member library. This card can be used to check out digital materials, such as those available in our Overdrive catalog. If you wish to check out physical items, you’ll need to visit your library with identifying documents (see above) so your card can be converted into a physical card. Click here to get started!

Using Westfield State University Library Cards

Joseph B. Ely Library at Westfield State University provides limited borrowing privileges to Westfield Athenaeum library card holders.
