Westfield Athenaeum Library

Temporary Resident Card Policy

Policy on Registration for a Temporary Resident Card

The Westfield Athenaeum loans library materials to those with a valid C/W MARS library card, based on verified legal residency within the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Temporary residents will be issued a Temporary Resident Card with short-term expiration dates not to exceed 90 days, at the discretion of the Library Director.

Temporary Resident cardholders are allowed to borrow a maximum of two items. No more than two items from the Westfield Athenaeum will be allowed to be on the patron's record at any one time. In order to receive a Temporary Resident Card, a patron must make a deposit of $20 (cash only), which will be refunded in full when the card expires, if there are no outstanding fines. Any fines not paid by the card's expiration date will be deducted from the $20 deposit and the balance of funds will be returned to the patron.

Patrons registering for a Temporary Resident Card must also provide a letter signed by the Director of the agency that is handling their residency, stating the length of their residency, if possible, and/or they may provide other sufficient proof of residency, such as an electric bill with current address.

(Note: This policy invalidates the current policy and will be reviewed after 90 days.)
