Policy on Taking Photographs of the Athenaeum Building
and/or Collections

Anyone interested in taking photographs or digital images of the inside of the Athenaeum building, including interior rooms, exhibits and displays, furniture, and/or library or museum collections, for personal use, must get verbal permission from the Athenaeum Director or his/her designee.

Requests to take images of the interior of the building or library/museum collections for the purposes of publication must be submitted in writing to the Director for prior written approval. The request should include the title of the publication, along with the expected date of publication.

Under no circumstances will objects be taken outside of the Athenaeum for photographing or printing, without prior written approval by the Athenaeum Director.

It is the responsibility of the author or photographer to determine if any copyright restrictions apply.

The Athenaeum reserves the right to charge a fee for permission to publish documents or objects in its collection.
