English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL):

ESOL Fall 2012

Registration Day: Thursday, September 18, 12:30 pm

The Westfield Athenaeum is offering adult day time classes in English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) at 6 Elm Street, Westfield MA.   Classes will take place on Mondays and Wednesdays 12:30 to 2:30pm. Classes will begin Monday September 22nd, 2014 at 12:30 pm. 

These classes are taught in a Learning Lab setup, and students will work at their own level.  Students must be able to read and write in their own language, and must be able to use a dictionary independently.  These classes are open to adults from all nationalities that are interested in improving their communication skills.  Students learn effective oral expression, pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary development, syntax as well as reading and writing skills. All classes are conducted in English only, and all students must be willing to interact well with others and participate in group discussions. 

The instructor Jonas Barrientos has over 40 years of experience with adult education and holds a TESOL (Teachers of English for Speakers of Other Languages) Certificate from the International Language Institute.

Technology Classes

One-on-one technology tutorials are available by appointment. Group Classes are available periodically. Topics may include Email, Microsoft Word, and Facebook.
