HOW DO I?

Borrow an eReader or Tablet

The library has an Amazon's Kindle Keyboard, Sony Reader Daily Edition, and two Nexus 7 Tablets that anyone with a permanent Adult library card in good standing and a photo ID may borrow.

  • Reserve an eReader or Tablet at the Circulation desk or call 413-568-7833
  • eReaders/Tablets may be kept for two weeks and are not renewable
  • Technology Services Librarian, Tegan Mannino, can help with library eReaders, tablets, and with OverDrive. Call 413-562-0716 x4

Borrow eBooks and Audio Books from OverDrive

OverDrive is the network-wide collection of ebooks and audio books free for library member use.  Titles in our OverDrive collection may be downloaded to a computer, transferred to a device, or accessed through an app on a smartphone or tablet.  To borrow or place holds on digital titles you need a valid library card.  More detailed information and links to the free software for OverDrive can be found at our digital catalog.

Other eBook Resources

Project Gutenberg - a collection of over 40,000 free ebooks available in a variety of formats including some audio recordings.  All Project Gutenberg titles are in the public domain or are licensed for free distribution.

ManyBooks - a collection of free ebooks in the public domain or licensed for free distribution.

LibriVox - free, volunteer read, audio books of public domain titles.

The Digital Reader - Reviews of dedicated ereaders as part of a blog about ereaders and ebooks.
