2010 POETRY CONTEST GUIDELINES
April is Poetry Month! Celebrate by entering a poem in the Westfield Athenaeum Poetry Contest. All entries submitted must meet contest guidelines. Poems that do not meet guidelines will not be accepted.
DEADLINE: Entries will be taken April 1ST – May 1, 2010. Entries must be received by 5:00 p.m. on SATURDAY, MAY 1st. Entries received, either in person or via post mail, after 5 p.m. on May 1st will not be eligible. Entries should not be put in the bookdrop. E-mail entries will not be accepted.
All entries must adhere to the guidelines described on this page.
Entries that do not meet contest guidelines will not be accepted.
Guidelines:
1. Writers must be age eighteen or older.
2. Only one (1) poem per person is allowed.
3. Poems cannot be longer than one 8 1/2 X 11 inch page.
4. Poems must be typed or hand-written on white paper, with no illustrations or decorations.
5. The author’s name must not appear anywhere on the poem.
6. The poem must have a title that should be centered at the top of the first page.
7. Poems must be the original work of the contestant.
8. All entries become the property of the Westfield Athenaeum and will be bound into a book for public viewing.
When your poem is submitted, you will be required to give your name, address, phone number and the title of the poem. Your poem will be assigned a number to keep judging anonymous. Three poems will be chosen. A reception will be held at the library to honor the winners.
